My daughter and I belong to an affiliate club of OAMA. One of the best decision of our lives was joining the club....it has transformed our lives. Being a part of OAMA and WCMA is like being a part of a much larger family...it's our second home. The instructors are amazing; they truly care about your goals. Love it, love it, LOVE it!!

My kids started training at the Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts after meeting Sensei Hache at a Birthday Party. After watching them train for a year I decided to try it myself, although I had not every done a martial art before. Both my kids and I have grown enormously with the help of the teachers and the other students, physically, socially and emotionally.

I've been a member here for the past 9 months and cannot say enough good things about OAMA. The instructors are world-class and their dedication to the club is unreal. There's such a great vibe here, the members you roll with become family and you help each other advance and improve. It's such a humbling experience and I highly suggest it for everyone; kids to seniors and everything in between. They offer a free week for anyone that wants to try it out and it's a great way to see how you like it. Everyone is friendly and it makes it so easy to jump in and have fun. If you're considering it, don't think any longer, just stop by!

I've been training here since January and I don't see myself changing schools anytime soon. I'm hooked. The instructors are full time professionals in their disciplines, and they are all very approachable and will make time for students. They always emphasize the students are a team. We are all there to support each other and challenge our training partners to raise their levels! Many of the students compete regularly in regional, national, and international tournaments. The quality of the student body is high. When I attend class I feel like I'm learning from people who are professionals at what they do, which is literally true for some. Everyone who trains and teaches here follows a tone of respect too. I hope to get many years of training here!

Biography

I am a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu purple belt under Matt (Hammer) Haché. I moved to Ottawa in 2017 to train at Ottawa academy of martial arts to pursue becoming a professional MMA fighter. I went pro in 2019 which is the same year I got bronze at worlds in the Gi and silver in my division and gold in absolute Nogi. I started my Jiu Jitsu journey in 2015 and haven’t looked back. Coming out of the Canadian forces I wasn’t sure what my path was until I found Jiu Jitsu. Martial arts has really helped me overcome a lot of self doubt. It has helped me in so many aspects of my life not only in the gym. I run the women’s program and it is something I have a true passion for. I absolutely love teaching and sharing my knowledge. I really love watching my team succeed and can’t wait to watch my teammates grow and help everyone achieve their goals.
