She did it!
Jo Maisonneuve, along with her teammates, won first place in Calgary this past weekend at the Western Canada Women’s Jiu Jitsu tournament!
This tournament is the first one of its kind in Canada. It’s run by women for all women who train in jiu jitsu.
When asked about her experience, she said:
“It was amazing seeing so many women step up for their first tournament and the experience was great. I love seeing a strong group of women!”
You can see Jo in action every week as she teaches our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes, including our Women’s Only BJJ.
She is also excited to be one of the teachers for our upcoming Women’s Self-Defense Seminar, on Saturday, November 28th!
This is a FREE workshop on self-defense techniques with a focus on preventative strategies based on situational awareness and preparation.
Join us in-person at the dojo, 11:30 am to 1 pm, or by live stream on Zoom, 10 am to 11 am. (COVID guidelines and social distancing will be followed)
We are proud to support Harmony House through donations at this event. Harmony House is the only second-stage women’s shelter in Ottawa. They rely on donations, sponsorship, and fundraising to help women and children.
This is one way we can all help those in need, especially right now when the demand is greater. COVID may be kicking us down, but it won’t keep us down!
Contact us today to sign up as registration is limited, by phone at (613)728-0880 or by email at [email protected]
We hope you will join us and help make this an amazing event! If you cannot attend in-person or online, but would still like to make a donation, please let us know. Every bit counts!
