“Jiu-jitsu is where my heart is.”
The first thing you notice about Jo Maisonneuve is usually her smile. You can’t miss it!
As a purple belt in BJJ and a pro-MMA fighter, she’s a double threat! And someone with the kindest heart.
In this week’s Meet the Team, get to know Jo and why she started in martial arts, what keeps her going and what’s up next for her.
Jo started training 5 1/2 years ago. She just got out of the Armed Forces and wasn’t sure what direction her life was going next. She walked into a gym and instantly loved it!
“OAMA has given me the ability to grow. I love watching the community grow as one…Seeing the growth in myself and being able to pass my knowledge to others…it pushes me more”.
Jo teaches all age levels. She loves working with special needs groups and people who have obstacles they need to get around. “If there’s something holding you back, let’s get you on the mats.”
Jiu-jitsu and MMA have taken Jo all over Canada and the United States. Her fight at Submissions on the Shore in California last summer has gone viral with over 80,000 views on YouTube! If you haven’t seen her in action, this is a great one to watch. You can see her fight by clicking here.
