We are excited to announce our very own Jo Maisonneuve will be representing OAMA in the Western Canada Women’s Jiu Jitsu tournament this Sunday, October 25th in Calgary, AB.
This tournament is the first one of its kind in Canada. It’s run by women for all women who train in jiu jitsu.
Their focus is on women in sports and encouraging more women to compete and showcase their skills in an environment based on camaraderie and teamwork.
And we have some badass women on our team!
Jo teaches our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes, and is pumped up for this event! When asked why she wanted to participate she said:
“There’s not many chances for women to compete as there is for men and I like how this tournament is giving women more opportunities to compete. I resonated with their entire message and wanted to support it. I like how there are women from all over with different beliefs coming together, it’s all-inclusive.”
Not only is Jo extremely talented, but she’s also an inspiration to all, including future generations of female athletes. She’s proof that anything is possible with a good work ethic and team that supports you.
Good luck Jo!

This is a free workshop on self-defense techniques with a focus on preventative strategies based on situational awareness and preparation.
