My daughter and I belong to an affiliate club of OAMA. One of the best decision of our lives was joining the club....it has transformed our lives. Being a part of OAMA and WCMA is like being a part of a much larger family...it's our second home. The instructors are amazing; they truly care about your goals. Love it, love it, LOVE it!!

My kids started training at the Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts after meeting Sensei Hache at a Birthday Party. After watching them train for a year I decided to try it myself, although I had not every done a martial art before. Both my kids and I have grown enormously with the help of the teachers and the other students, physically, socially and emotionally.

Pat and Hammer are amazing ambassador's for Martial Arts in Ottawa. OAMA is definitely THE place to learn enthusiastic, high quality Martial Arts in the city. Great school with a great atmosphere.

The Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts is a pillar of the Ottawa community! For years they have been changing people's lives and supporting the community! You should want your children to experience Professor Matt Hache and his unlimited passion for Martial Arts!

Fantastic academy!!! Professor Pat and Professor Hammer are the best! They run a very professional program with technical instruction and safe training environment. It's been a great pleasure to train and learn from them.

I've been a member here for the past 9 months and cannot say enough good things about OAMA. The instructors are world-class and their dedication to the club is unreal. There's such a great vibe here, the members you roll with become family and you help each other advance and improve. It's such a humbling experience and I highly suggest it for everyone; kids to seniors and everything in between. They offer a free week for anyone that wants to try it out and it's a great way to see how you like it. Everyone is friendly and it makes it so easy to jump in and have fun. If you're considering it, don't think any longer, just stop by!

I've been training here since January and I don't see myself changing schools anytime soon. I'm hooked. The instructors are full time professionals in their disciplines, and they are all very approachable and will make time for students. They always emphasize the students are a team. We are all there to support each other and challenge our training partners to raise their levels! Many of the students compete regularly in regional, national, and international tournaments. The quality of the student body is high. When I attend class I feel like I'm learning from people who are professionals at what they do, which is literally true for some. Everyone who trains and teaches here follows a tone of respect too. I hope to get many years of training here!

Something for the whole family!

Are you looking for an activity to do with your kids or family?

Martial arts is it! Many of our members train with family and it’s a great way to connect with your kids.

Like OAMA team member Jaspreet Basi. She was introduced to Jiu-Jitsu by her father 10 years ago. And she hasn’t looked back!

On this week’s Meet the Team, Jaspreet tells us about the connection she has with her father doing a sport they both love and the positive impact Jiu-Jitsu has in her life.

Watch the full interview here.

Jaspreet was 7 years old when she started Jiu-Jitsu. She tried many other sports and activities but none had her interest, or love, like Jiu-Jitsu.

She progressed from training to teacher’s helper (or Senpai) to a full teacher quickly, teaching OAMA’s children’s programs.

She credits Jiu-Jitsu with helping her with confidence, making friends, and better connections with the teachers and members alike. “OAMA’s like my second home…I’m always here and it’s something I look forward to in the day”, Jaspreet says.

“As a teen, it’s a great outlet to have self-defence and managing your time for school…It’s a good motivation and you stay out of trouble…You’re with like-minded people.”

Our OAMA staff team is incredible!

They are all knowledgeable, helpful, easy to talk to, and passionate about martial arts. They love what they do and you can tell.

Come take a Jiu-Jitsu or Muay Thai class today. Our children’s classes run alongside adult classes, making it easy to fit into your schedule. Check out our schedule here. We’d love to see you.

Our school is goal-oriented. We want to help students achieve their goals in pursuit of excellence. Regardless of your end game; whether it be to improve agility, martial arts skills, confidence, flexibility, or to participate in competitions, we want to help you. Our instructors have walked the path and are eager to help you with yours.

Talk to anyone on the OAMA staff team and see how we can help you.
