Did you see this? Miami International Open
On this week’s Meet the Team, meet Ethan Major who started BJJ after being bullied in public school. It helped him gain confidence and self-esteem.
He now teaches OAMA’s children’s programs and is a professional athlete who just competed across the U.S.
“I’ve seen kids like me who had low confidence and weren’t sure, attend competitions they said they never could – and it’s pretty cool to see…It inspires me to help other kids and makes me want to become better.”
Ethan quickly took to the sport and found his passion. He now shares that with the children and youth he teaches and mentors.
Even after all his experience competing, he still gets jitters.“I get nervous before a fight, but once I step onto the mats it’s ok. It means the world to me.”
“When I miss training it affects my day…The environment [at OAMA] has good vibes going around.”
If you have never seen one of Ethan’s fights, here’s a recent video of him from the Miami International Open. He submits his opponent with a quick triangle choke and armbar. Don’t blink…you might miss it!
Join a Zoom class to learn from Ethan, or any of our instructors. BJJ and Muay Thai are offered every day!
We know it’s been a long haul. And training isn’t the same as in the dojo. We encourage you to connect with our instructors for guidance or ideas on training at home. They are also available for 1 on 1 private training. Our staff team is here and eager to teach you and help you with your goals.
We’d love to see you in an online class. Click here for our virtual class schedule. And we can’t wait to see everyone on the mats and in person soon.
